TANZANIAN ENVOY VISITS ANJOUAN HOSPITAL TO INSPECT JOINT MEDICAL MISSION
The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Comoros, H.E. Saidi Othman Yakubu, has visited Bambao Hospital on the island of Anjouan to inspect the progress of an ongoing joint medical camp conducted by Tanzanian and Comorian specialists.
Ambassador Yakubu was received by local health authorities and toured several hospital wards, where he interacted with patients and medical staff providing essential healthcare services. The visit underscored Tanzania’s continued commitment to strengthening regional partnerships in health and human development.
Speaking after the inspection, Ambassador Yakubu emphasized that Tanzania and the Comoros share a long-standing historical bond anchored in mutual cooperation and solidarity, particularly in improving the well-being of their citizens.
“We take pride in seeing our Tanzanian doctors working hand in hand with their Comorian counterparts to deliver quality medical care to the people of Anjouan. This collaboration is a true reflection of friendship and a shared determination to advance the health of our nations,” said Ambassador Yakubu.
The medical camp provides a range of services, including surgical operations, screening for non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health services, and community health education on disease prevention and treatment.
Hospital management at Bambao expressed appreciation to the Government of Tanzania and Ambassador Yakubu for their support and contribution to enhancing healthcare delivery in the Comoros.
The initiative forms part of the broader bilateral cooperation in the health sector between the two countries, championed under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and H.E. Colonel Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of the Comoros.
