TANZANIA OPENS FIRST EASA-CERTIFIED AVIATION TRAINING HUB IN LANDMARK SECTOR MOVE
In a pivotal development for Tanzania’s aviation sector, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Training and Examination Centre was officially launched at the National Institute of Transport (NIT) in Dodoma yesterday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by the Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Mr. Salim Msangi.
The inauguration follows NIT’s successful accreditation as an EASA-recognised centre, a feat achieved through a strategic partnership with Aerolink Solutions Ltd and the Athens Aviation Training Organization (AATO). This milestone initiative aims to directly enhance the skills of Tanzanian aviation professionals, bringing them into alignment with stringent international standards.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Msangi lauded NIT for the significant achievement. He underscored the vital role of modern training infrastructure, qualified instructors, and innovative programmes in delivering high-quality training that meets global aviation demands. The TCAA Director General reaffirmed that the TCAA, as the national aviation regulator, will continue to collaborate closely with training institutions like NIT to ensure all programmes comply with EASA requirements, thereby boosting the competitiveness of Tanzanian professionals in the global job market.
For his part, the Director of NIT, Eng. Dr. Prosper Mgaya, expressed profound gratitude to the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for facilitating this historic success. He credited the outcome to robust cooperation between the Government, TCAA, and other key stakeholders in the aviation industry.
The establishment of the EASA Training and Examination Centre at NIT is viewed as a major leap forward for the nation's aviation industry. It will enable engineers and other professionals to secure globally respected certifications, significantly enhancing local employability and technical expertise. TCAA views this as a testament to its commitment to quality oversight, advancing its mission to position Tanzania as a strategic hub for aviation excellence in Africa.
